Clan of Champions, also known in as Gladiator Vs, which whilst being published by Acquire in Japan, is being picked up by Nippon Ichi Software America for English release. The big surprise however is that while the game is being released on the Playstation 3 exclusively in Japan, it will be released on each the Playstation 3, XBox360 and PC overseas. This will mark it as NISA’s first XBox360 and PC title release to date. This actually surprised me…. the game choice that is. I can understand why they would do multiplatform for this title explicitly, as while Disgaea has a large fanbase for the series and genre on the Playstation 3, this game is far away from this crowd and so marketing it to the largest crowd might be the best way to sell it. However, out of all the games they could have chosen, I do feel slightly disheartened that they chose a more Western-style game given their record of epic RPG/SRPGS.
So for those of you who like me are perhaps waiting for the release of Umineko no Naku Koro ni on the Playstation 3 or Makai Kingdom/Antiphona no Seikahime: Tenshi no Gakufu Op.A for the Playstation Portable (Just naming examples, feel free to add your own desired game here), will have to wait longer still to see if NIS America or any other company picks up their desired title…
But hey, I might be wrong – and I do hope I am! As with both Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention and Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk.2, this game is slated for a Spring 2012 release in North America, with releases in other regions to follow.
