Just incase everyone thought that Sony was giving up on the issue, here is an update from Community Team Member Pretoria posted on the Australian Announcements Board on the official EU/AU Playstation Forums

Hey Community,

I do understand all the concerns & frustrations that has generated in the last few hours, rest assured our tech’s are looking into this, working around the clock to get everything back to normal again. We would love to be able to give you the answers you are looking for at this time & when anything comes to hand, you will be informed by one of the PlayStation Support Team.

Regards

Majorly & Insanely tired,

Pretoria

So yes, they are definately not giving up just yet so please instead of ranting and complaining, understand that solutions to unknowns take time and lots of effort, especially considering the factors in this weird case. I for one, despite my concerns of my PS3 being down for a while, am taking this chance to do a good study session, which I have really needed to do for a while thanks to Star Ocean 4 and White Knight Chronicles being released recently.

Edit: And to those who have had trophies disappear, if you have already synced them and they have then disappeared,  they are definately safe as can be seen from my updated trophy card on the AU Site.

If they havent been synced yet, then they are more than likely still waiting to be synced, which they will almost certainly be once you go online when it is back up and sync the trophies then (Note: I am not an official word so what I say are the most obvious and likely assumptions to me, I do not represent Sony or anything in relation to this.)
