History of The Addicts – Part 1

After talking to my current Addict assistants, I have had all three of them go and collect information about how the history of all the addicts relates to what makes TheAddicts today. Note: This is a promotional post for the Dragonica guild TheAddicts, so only read it if you are actually interested in the game, as we do add some sidestory to the main Dragonica storyline.

Most people are unaware that Sam was supposed to be the senior addict of TheAddicts since Lord Vyvern assigned Nuglar the important mission of leading the guild. Sam back then was one of the leading acolytes in Vyvern?s forces and was one of the few who were known to equal Nuglar in power. Since Nuglar was forced into temporary concealment due to the high risk operations, Sam was labelled as a target by Elga’s forces.

The night before the official formation of the guild, a spy within Vyvern’s forces broke into Sam’s headquarters and attempted to send him 1,000 years into the past hoping that he would die before the current events, This spell failed and instead sent him 1,000 years into the future into the current time.

Current Time

Despite Nuglar’s increasingly old age, his memory was as sharp as ever and he noticed Sam walking around the streets of the Port of Winds, confused at this strange new world that replaced the fortress of Vyvern he had been in a few moments ago. He was led into the recent hideout of TheAddicts within Etakons tavern where Nuglar explained the situation that had occured, which took days of non-stop talking due to him recalling every single event that occured in the 1,000 years.

Whilst Sam could have simply walked away from the base and lived a happy live like most Dragonicans, he instead accepted Nuglar’s proposal of becoming a senior addict, as he now remains. All at the cost of giving Nuglar his youthful appearance back.

The Work

Sam is a primary healer for TheAddicts in all their guild missions however does have other roles. He currently runs a blog named The Otaku Study, which whilst may seem like a normal blog, has the hidden purpose of seeking out addicted Dragonicans. He currently works in a considerably big office at the lowest level of Etakons Tavern with Altessa and Eilrahc21 and has three assistants whose responsibility is to gather data on other Dragonicans.

Recruitment Begins

It turned out to be a wise decision to relocate the Headquarter at Etakon’s Tavern. It was built at the center of Port of Wind, where 2 major trade routes cross each other. From the East, merchants from Odellia bring news of adventurers setting out to make their last stand against the once peaceful creatures of El Grego. And from the West, merchants from Faeras stream through Nautilus Port, bringing grave news of the lightning speed at which Lord Elga is expanding his reign of terror on their home.

Every day, Master Addict Nuglar would listen in on these gossips and pray for the safety of all Dragonians… The pressure was on Nuglar to start with the recruitment quickly but he had to be sure that only the right candidates were chosen. With Sam working on the organization structure of the guild and Altessa making sure that the Headquarters remain concealed, Nuglar might just have enough time.

How we met

It didn’t take long for Nuglar to bump into me. I was there for coffee every day at Etakon’s. 3 times a day, 7 cups in total. I was there, minding my business, sharing Intelligence that I’ve brought in from other parts of the world when the incident happened… “K” was notorious for using coercive methods to pick a fight with anyone (even with a Priest). Nuglar, unfortunately, was on the receiving end that day. “K” had noticed about Nuglar’s presence in the tavern and he was not at all comfortable with it. Maybe he saw Nuglar as a threat to himself and he wanted to get rid of this irking feeling.

I still remember vividly how it happened. “K” walked up to Nuglar and spat in his face, claiming that Nuglar was too secretive for his liking. It was only natural that Nuglar reacted! He grabbed hold of “K’s” wrist and spun him around, causing him to lose his footing and sent him crashing into the ground. Bloodied and stubborn, “K” went in for his next blow, using his best-known weapon: Words. I couldn’t take his antics no more, my coffee was late as Etakon had to resolve this personally. I got up from my seat and smashed “K’s” head from behind, with my Taiga coffee mug, and said this, “Enough is enough “K”. You’re both dignified men, talented in your own ways, there is no need to continue this fight” Then, I walked out of the Tavern, smelling the air for the aroma of the next cafe.

The next morning after the incident, I stepped into the tavern, dismayed that there will be no coffee for me (my Taiga coffee mug had been used). Then, Etakon pulled out a new mug, with Taiga and Minorin! He said that someone left this for me, along with a note. I couldn’t figure out who it was, until I saw the details of the note.

It read: “I noticed your addiction for coffee, 21 cups a day is no small feat. Would you like to meet up for my special brew? Meet me at the tavern tonight, make sure that you bring nobody with you ~Master Addict Nuglar”

Before I knew it, my life changed after the meeting with Nuglar. I became part of The Addicts and worked with them underground. Of course, with Etakon’s Tavern just above, it was an extra perk that came with it
