The Otaku’s Gaming Study #9 “Build ‘n’ Demolish” – Review Set
Posted on July 2, 2012 | No CommentsWelcome to the ninth installment of The Otaku’s Gaming Study, a series I use when doing mini-reviews of series that have been released in the past – and due to my thesis writing (In this case), have not been able to cover to date. For this one I would like to cover two digital download games released by Ubisoft and ATLUS USA respectively – Babel Rising and Rock of Ages, both of which involve the building and destruction of structures and both bring some rather interesting gameplay mechanics to the mix. Review codes for both these games were kindly provided... -
The Otaku’s Gaming Study #9b – Rock of Ages Review
Posted on July 2, 2012 | No CommentsRock of Ages Ace Team | ATLUS USA Now available on the Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network and on the PC. Some features may differ between platforms. Rock of Ages is a unique merger of two genres – Tower Defense and competitive racing and despite a couple of minor issues results in one of the most memorable and unique digital download games I have played to date. Apparently throughout history – namely the five eras showcased in this game (Ancient Greek, Medieval, Renaissance, Rococo and Romanticism eras), it was customary for wars between men to be waged by inclined surfaces... -

Rock Of Ages – Now Available on XBox Live
Posted on September 3, 2011 | No CommentsI will admit, I originally didn’t follow this series at all but this trailer might have just won me over to checking it out once it is released on the Playstation Network store. For those who are not familiar with this game, here is the official blurb for it: A rock-solid combination of deep strategy, rock-rolling action, and captivating art and music from throughout history! Two castles stand opposed, bridged by an uneven, narrow pathway. One is yours, and you’re quite fond of it. See how the parapets catch the sunlight ever so stylishly? The other is your enemy’s; they’re... -
Rock Kills Retro Video Game Characters
Posted on August 18, 2011 | No CommentsIn a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors… The Rock will lose to the paper. However, ATLUS USA seems to disagree with it, and believe that instead – Rock beats everything. What way to prove the rocks dominance then to have it invade retro video gaming worlds and destroy the characters within them? This is a trailer for the upcoming ATLUS USA game Rock of Ages which is due out on the 31st August for the XBox Live Marketplace and later on this summer season for the Playstation Network and PC platforms. The game is an Action-Strategy game which has you controlling a...
