Siren Visual to Release Number 6 and Two Complete Box Sets this Thursday
Posted on December 4, 2012 | No CommentsAs Madman Entertainment’s December 2012 releases have already been mentioned on The Otaku’s Study, I think it is only fair that I also mention Siren Visual’s set of three to be released on the 6th (This Thursday). This includes one new title and two complete box sets – one of which was my Australian Anime Release of the Year 2011. Siren Visual’s release schedule is as follows: New Titles Number 6 DVD | Hybrid Dub | $49.95 | 300 Minutes In 2013, after the great war devastated the world, six city states remain, created by The Babylon Treaty. Sion is a... -
Siren Visual To Release Dennou Coil Complete Box Set (The Otaku’s Study Australian Anime Release of the Year 2011) this December
Posted on October 9, 2012 | No CommentsRather than hand out Best of 2011 for every category imaginable last year, on The Otaku’s Study only a couple of titles walked away with the “Best Something of 2011″ title. One of these was the Australian Anime Release of the Year – pooling together all the titles I reviewed over the year by Madman Entertainment and Siren Visual… and as you may expect have one walk away with the top spot. This title was Dennou Coil, an Australian-exclusive English-subtitled anime release which I thought was very original and enjoyable. While released last year in two separate collections, come the... -
Dennou Coil Part 2 – Review
Posted on January 4, 2012 | No CommentsTitle: Dennou Coil Published by: Siren Visual (Australia / New Zealand) Based on: An anime-exclusive series Genre: Science Fiction Audio: Japanese Dub Subtitles: English Aspect Ratio: 16:9 Anamorphic Widescreen Runtime: 325 minutes Cost: $49.95 Classification: This title has been classified M for Supernatural Themes Special Thanks: Siren Visual PR Team for providing me with a review sample of this title. Having recently awarded this series my Australian Anime Release of the Year 2011, I am questioning whether I really needed to give this second part a review given to me the series as a whole beat the many other series released in Australia last year, however I am sure there are... -
A Question for the New Year – Technology in the 202X’s
Posted on December 31, 2011 | No CommentsOkay, so we might be looking ten to twenty years in the future here but I would like to pose a question to everyone. I have recently been watching Siren Visual’s second installment of Dennou Coil alongside CyberConnect2′s .hack//Link and .hack//G.U game titles and could not help but notice the similarities between the two. In both the aforementioned series, they pose that the internet will be overlapping with reality and be accessible through glasses instead of through ordinary desktop granted some limitations and supernatural elements (Comas, the ability to “die” by unsyncing your real and digital self et cetera). My question is… with... -
The Otaku’s Study – Game and Australian Anime Release of the Year 2011!
Posted on December 26, 2011 | No CommentsWhile it isn’t going to be anything overly fancy, I would like to welcome you to tonights celebration of my personal Game of the Year and Australian Anime Release for 2011. Now, first of all I would like to make special mention to my ordinary anime of the year which was announced in my post for the AniBlogger Choice Awards 2011 in which the anime series Usagi Drop was chosen as the winner. The following is my comment on why this series was picked as my first pick for Japanese anime release of the year: Usagi Drop What is there... -
The Otaku’s Study – Australian Anime Release of the Year 2011 Nominees.
Posted on December 14, 2011 | No CommentsFor those who want my “Anime of the Year” for Japanese releases and simulcasts, yesterday I did my article for the AniBloggers Choice Anime Awards 2011 which can be read HERE. While I would like to encompass every anime release in English – it is currently impractical as while North America recieves many releases, over here we don’t receive all of them (That and I dont review them all)… so limiting them to just Australian releases is best for this year at least. Once again, these are just nominated titles and the winner will be determined through the following criteria: The anime... -
Dennou Coil to Receive Online Browser Game Next Year
Posted on November 29, 2011 | 1 CommentWhile not much in terms of specifics have been revealed regarding this game yet, GameOn – a Japanese online gaming company recently opened a teaser website for a browser-based game of Dennou Coil. The game titled Dennou Coil Hokago Tantei Kyoku or (Dennou Coil Afterschool Detective Agency) will let players control a character in Daikoku City and compete in missions based around the online world overlaying the real world. Outside of Japan, the anime series this will be based off has only been released in Australia, so for those not familiar with the title – here is a brief blurb... -
Part 2 of Dennou Coil to Contain A Bonus Disc of Content
Posted on September 26, 2011 | No CommentsAs I mentioned previously in my review of Dennou Coil Part 1 released by Siren Visual this month, and to me – something Australians can really cheer about having released (Recieving an A-Grade to boot), I have just recieved some clarification relating to the extras content. I mentioned that there was only a simple selection of extras including a Clean Opening and Trailer alongside some trailers. Well…. when Dennou Coil Part 2 is released in December, there will not be two discs but three discs! The third disc will be an extras disc with exclusive content including Interviews, Promotional Videos, Staff/Cast... -

Part (??) of Siren Visual’s November and December Line-up Revealed
Posted on September 19, 2011 | No CommentsSiren Visual have just unveiled at least part of their November and December 2011 releases on their website. Unfortunately at the moment it does not seem much in terms of anime compared to previous seasons, so I at least assume more will be revealed in coming weeks, just like how the Tears to Tiara box set was announced in their recent newsletter for this month. The following is what has currently been announced. November Angel Beats Blu-ray Otonashi Yuzuru has one memory: he died. He’s stuck in a high school of the afterlife, his own surreal purgatory with two choices: give...
