Although music may not receive as much recognition as aesthetic appeal, writing and acting when it comes to films presented on the silver screen; music has the capability to enhance a film significantly by making a shoot-out become intense and dramatic or make a romantic scene much more emotional and/or sweet. The Queensland Symphony Orchestra will be holding a one-day only “Movie Masterpieces” session during these upcoming school holidays, featuring music from a plethora of modern and not-so-modern films.

This event will be held on Friday April 10th 2015 from 7:30PM at The Arts Centre Gold Coast. Including an interval, the duration of the event will be around two hours. Tickets will set adults back $54.00, with reduced pricing for pensioners/seniors/concession ($47.00), students ($30.00) and School Groups. Tickets and more information can be found via the event page.

Richard Wenn | QSO Director of Artistic Planning

Anytime a film director wants to tug at the heart strings or get audiences to sit on the edge of their seats – they use music to do it. For me whenever I hear the soundtrack from Lawrence of Arabia I’m instantly transported to the desert and huge vistas of Peter O’Toole on his camel, there is a sense of freedom, grandeur and majesty in this music that really summarises the cinematography of David Lean.

We’re thrilled to bring the QSO to the Gold Coast to present a luscious program of great film soundtrack highlights.
