Presented in association with the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) from Friday 10th April to Saturday 18th April 2015, this event will be a celebration of early music performed by Australian and international classic musicians. A wide variety of events will take place each day of the week, with some being on-off sessions and others having multiple performances during the week. Events will be held at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre in addition to other city-based venues including Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, Brisbane City Hall and St Mary’s Church Kangaroo Point.

For more information on some of the main events at this festival, check out HERE. As classical music is one of the few music genres I don’t enjoy (with the very odd exception), I will not be reviewing any of the events taking part during Brisbane Baroque.

Leo Schofield | Brisbane Baroque Artistic Director

Brisbane Baroque will provide yet another opportunity for audiences to experience exclusive world-class performance in Brisbane. Brisbane Baroque will also showcase some of the brilliant young artists and musicians emerging in Australia from our educational academies. We aim to provide a platform for collaboration between international and Australian artists and companies. This year we will feature numerous Queensland artists including ensembles from the ranks of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Camerata of St John’s, Canticum Chamber Choir, Badinerie Players and graduates from the National Opera School of renowned Queensland operatic soprano Lisa Gasteen.

John Kotzas | QPAC Chief Executive

This celebration of early music is a great example of collaboration between our city’s cultural venues both within the Southbank Cultural Precinct and across the river with events at City Hall and St Mary’s Church. It is sure to be a drawcard for visitors, especially as the program includes events over two weekends.
