Following a number of other major cinematic screenings from the company in recent months, Australian anime and film publisher Madman Entertainment have confirmed they will be holding screenings of the live-action film Death Note: Light Up the NEW World in cinemas starting on or from November 10th 2016.

Light up the NEW World is not a simple live-action adaptation of the original manga or anime, which has already received such recreations in the past. Instead, this is a sequel which features new characters, returning characters, a (current) modern day setting and a brand new conflict involving the Death Notes.

This film takes place ten years after the infamous Death Note murders. In 2016, society is afflicted with cyber-terrorism. The Death Note is a supernatural notebook that grants its user the power to kill simply by writing a person’s name on its pages. Six different Death Notes fall to the human world, the maximum number of notes that can exist at once. In the midst of this, two new individuals inherit the DNA of Light Yagami and L and must play a deadly game of cat-and-mouse once again.
