What do you get when you have a hair-cutting fetishist and someone whose hair is supernaturally long come together in an anime series which combines school life and action elements? You get The Severing Crime Edge. Delivering some interesting concepts which were at times disjointed and not completely harmonised at the beginning – the 2014 DVD release of this show still received a commendable score of ‘B’ in my review of it.
Now you don’t necessarily need to purchase a DVD of this show to watch it, with Australian anime publisher Madman Entertainment offering the full 13 episode season legally via their AnimeLab video-on-demand service. While you will still need to purchase a home video copy to enjoy the English dub, each online episode comes with the original Japanese dub w/ English subtitles.
About The Severing Crime Edge
Haimura Kiri is a seemingly ordinary boy with one slight problem: he is obsessed with cutting other people’s hair. One day he meets Mushiyanokouji Iwai, the “Hair Queen” who cannot cut her hair because of an inherited curse. Kiri finds out that his scissors are the only thing that can cut them. But little did he know that their meeting sparked the start of an old murder game to kill the “Hair Queen” using the cursed killing tools.
