Last month it was announced by Pony Canyon USA (Ponycan USA) that they had formed an exclusive distribution deal with Right Stuf for monthly anime releases starting in April 2015. One of these titles was Denki-Gai (Aka. Denkigai no Honya-san / デンキ街の本屋さん) which is set to receive a Volume 1 release containing episodes 1 through 4. As the series only concluded airing a couple of months ago, this Collector’s Edition distribution is comparable to what other publishers might call an “Import Edition” set – with a limited number of episodes, a few extra goodies and a price to match.
Looking a bit further ahead than April, Right Stuf and Ponycan USA have shared a sneak peek at the contents of Volume 2, which will be published on May 10th 2015. With a retail price of $89.98 (Right Stuf price = $71.98), this set will consist of Episodes 5 to 8 on DVD and Blu-ray, in addition to a handful of other goodies. These other goodies include a special character song CD, a 24-page deluxe booklet dubbed “Umanohone Magazine 3 & 4”, two collectible pin-up pictures illustrated by original manga author Asato Mizu and a double-sided poster illustrated by SIN-EI Animation.
As this has only just aired in Japan, this collection will only feature the original Japanese dub with official English subtitles. Orders can currently be made through Rightstuf.com. If the price is a turn-off for you, unfortunately Ponycan USA have yet to confirm or deny plans for a Standard Edition release.
