Serving as the very last instalment in the Garden of Sinners anime film series, three years after previous film “Last Chapter: The Garden of Sinners” was originally released in 2010, Aniplex of America have confirmed they now hold the rights to The Garden of Sinners – Recalled Out Summer – and The Garden of Sinners – Recalled Out Summer – <Extra Chorus>. Both films will be released as part of a Limited Edition Blu-ray Set from April 21st, with pre-orders to be taken via RightStuf.com and a selection of retailers from February 16th.
This Limited Edition Blu-ray set will include both films with the original Japanese dub and English subtitles. Also included is a pre-show reminder video (on-disc), a 24-page deluxe booklet and special packaging which has been illustrated by original character designer, Takashi Takeuchi. Only available as a Limited Edition set, you can pre-order yourself a copy of SRP $79.98 USD. This is approximately what you would usually expect to pay for a film release from Aniplex of America.
The Garden of Sinners was first adapted into a feature film series with the first chapter, “Chapter 1: Thanatos” released in December 2007 and the final chapter “Last Chapter: The Garden of Sinners” released in December 2010. This eighth film features a story that was not included in the original film series, and takes place between the first and third chapter of the original timeline when Mikiya Kokutou encounters a young woman who warns him of his impending doom.
Normally I wouldn’t always be concerned about “Limited Edition” releases from Aniplex of America as they often throw in a Standard Edition set as well. However going from their previous set, once this limited edition collection has sold out, there could potentially be a wait for a subsequent release – with no other listings for earlier “Garden of Sinners” films currently listed on RightStuf.com.

See…this pisses me off a little. I already bought a imported copy from Japan after importing the original KnK movie box set (movies 1 – 8). While the original KnK boxset had subtitles, the Recalled Out Summer did not.
So the only way besides continuing to improve my Japanese and watch the unsubbed Japanese version that I already have, or I can buy this new upcoming version and have two copies.
