Funimation Entertainment Anime Acquisitions from Otakon 2014

During the weekend long event, Funimation Entertainment announced several new anime acquisitions at Otakon 2014. Information on each of these acquisitions are available below:

Kicking off the announcements, Funimation confirmed that they have acquired the home video distribution rights to D-Frag!, building upon the other licenses for the series that were announced by them earlier on this year.

For those who can’t wait for the DVD and/or Blu-ray release of the series to be made at an unspecified date, episodes are currently being streamed for North Americans via the Funimation website.

Kenji likes to think that he and his gang of friends are the bad boys of their school. That is, until he meets the four insane girls of a game making club whose personalities are all super weird (and a little on the violent side). When Kenji’s forced to join their little group, his life quickly takes a turn for the outrageous.


BZB_keyartThe second acquisition announcement made by Funimation has seen them confirm their acquisition of home video distribution rights for BlazBlue: Alter Memory, based on Arc System Works’ popular fighting game franchise.

The next acquisition announcement is once again related to home video distribution rights, this time related to Riddle Story of Devil. FRE_S2_key-artFans of the anime series Freezing may also be interested to know that Funimation have picked up home video distribution rights for its sequel Freezing Vibration. This series is set to be released sometime in 2015.

The sci-fi adventure continues as Satellizer, her battle partner Kazuya, and the rest of the West Genetics High team continue training to fight invading aliens known as Nova.


For those who are sick of just hearing about home video distribution acquisitions, Funimation have confirmed that they now hold the digital, home video and broadcast rights for anime series Unbreakable Machine Doll. Episodes are currently available through the Funimation website, with a home video release planned for 2015.
