Aniplex of America confirmed during their Otakon industry panel this weekend that they will be releasing the anime series Nisekoi: False Love on Blu-ray from November 25th, 2014. Unfortunately for some fans, unlike most publishers which generally adopt half or whole season volumes, Aniplex will be distributing the 20 episode TV anime over four volumes of five episodes each.
Pre-orders for volume 1 have now begun, with the collection priced at $64.98 USD (SRP) containing on-disc bonuses (Textless Opening, Textless Endings), a deluxe poster, collectible ending card pin-ups and a special box featuring art by Nobuhiro Sugiyama. Information on Volumes 2-4 will be announced at a later date.
This release will ONLY contain the original Japanese dub with English subtitles, with the five episodes totalling 125 minutes approximately.
Storyline
The story follows the life of an average high school student, Raku Ichijo, who is the heir to a Yakuza family and Chitoge Kirisaki, the daughter of the rival gang leader. Up to this point, the story may allude to a famous Shakespearean play, but Raku and Chitoge are far from the star-crossed lovers. Without their prior consent, their families force Raku and Chitoge to become fake lovers in order to bring peace between the two rival families. Much hilarity ensues when Raku and Chitoge, who are both amateurs when it comes to relationships with the opposite sex, is made to uphold this fake relationship through any means in front of their school peers. That also meant that Raku had to give up his feelings for his classmate Kosaki Onodera, or finding his one true love from his past.
