If you were to take a look at their July 2014 release slate, quite a few of Sentai Filmworks’ hybrid and Japanese dubbed anime releases have been limited to DVD-exclusive releases. This follows a trend started in late-2013 where even their subtitled anime titles were beginning to receive blu-ray releases en masse.
Via their Facebook channel, Sentai Filmworks issued the below statement regarding their release plans:
Occasionally our programs may be subject to release parameters that are determined by underlying rights holders and which are otherwise outside our direct control. For example, a program’s inclusion on certain media formats such as Blu-ray disc may be subject to a holdback that expires following release of a Japanese domestic version in that format.
