As Their Final Announcement for the Day, Sentai Filmworks Announce K-ON! The Movie for North America

-

For their final announcement of the day, Sentai Filmworks have announced their plans to release K-ON! The Movie, following their release of K-ON! Season 2 which they license rescued from Bandai Entertainment (Who were behind localization of Season 1). They are not the first company to announce their plans for this series, with Australian publisher Madman Entertainment announcing their intent in November 2012 – but either way this announcement also confirms they will be producing an English dub for the film and will be released with a hybrid dub (Including the original Japanese dub).

This theatrical follow-up to the ultra-popular TV series features work from K-ON! veterans Naoko Yamada (Director), Reiko Yoshida (Screenplay), Yukiko Horiguchi (Character Designs) and Hajime Hyakkoku (Music).

Graduation time is finally here, but the girls of the Sakuragaoka Girl’s High Light Music Club aren’t going to let the end of high school be the end of all they’ve built together.  First, though, they have to keep a promise to take a trip together, and like everything else they do, they’re not doing it halfway.  So it’s time to hop on the bus – the double-decker bus that is – and go around the world as the band heads for the birthplace of the British Invasion: the United Kingdom!  And on the way they’re going to have to solve that one last big puzzle that’s been vexing them: what to get for their underclassman rhythm guitarist Azusa, who will be taking over the club once they don their caps and gowns and leave Sakuragaoka for the last time.  Get ready for a Magical Musical Tour as the whole gang takes in the sights and sounds of London and prepares for one last amazing encore in the climatic finale of K-ON! THE MOVIE!

Expect to see this on DVD and Blu-ray as well as through select Digital outlets in North America later this year. The English dub is being produced by Bang Zoom! Entertainment and while no specifics were given, should contain extensive extra content.
