Madman Entertainment have today sent around an alert stating that their theatrical releases of From Up on Poppy Hill, the latest English dubbed title from Studio Ghibli is now being screened in select theaters around Australia.
However, they have also warned that a number of cinemas only plan on screening the film for a limited number of days – so if you want to watch it before the inevitable DVD/Blu-ray release you might want to head down to the cinema and watch it sooner rather than later. Screenings in Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra are currently being run until the 24th December while Melbourne and Perth will be run until assumingly a later date.

Umi is a high school girl, living with her family in the beautiful seaside town of Yokohama Bay. Each day she raises a pair of flags in anticipation of the return of her father, a sailor who went missing some years previously.
One day Umi meets Shun, a member of the school’s literature club, and the two students decide to restore the school’s rundown clubhouse to its former glory. However, when they learn that a local businessman plans to demolish the clubhouse for redevelopment, they band together with their schoolmates in order to save it from destruction. In the process Umi begins to fall in love with Shun, but there’s a secret she will uncover that threatens their future happiness together…
