Yesterday saw Australian anime publisher Madman Entertainment release their December 2012 anime release slate, and with it the first batch of Yokoso Anime Editions. After only seeing a limited number of anime series on television in Australia, over the last year Madman Entertainment have opened the doors with a number of series including Fruits Basket and Ouran High School Host Club appearing on ABC3 (Alongside a number of titles of regional stations).
As anime titles can be pricey to buy as collections, Madman Entertainment have this month begun to distribute select series under the Yokoso Anime label. This sees smaller DVD releases comprising of a film or part of a series released at a budget price of $14.95 alongside fun-facts on anime and Japanese culture. This series seems to be more targetted towards younger fans of anime as an entry point to the market and who might not necessarily be able to put down $60 at one time for a complete collection. Current series that have/are receiving the Anime Yokoso treatment include:
- Bleach the Movie: Memories of Nobody
- Dragon Ball Z Remastered Movie Collection V01 (Dead Zone / World’s Strongest)
- Fruits Basket (Split into four collections)
- Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow
- Ouran High School Host Club (Split into four collections)
Out of all these shows, the only one to have received a review on The Otaku’s Study is Ouran High School Host Club, which you can read HERE.
