And the award goes to… you! For having the good sense to pick up this hilarious DVD! Wait, I know what you are thinking: “Sure, RED VS. BLUE is one of the most popular web series of all time, but who has five minutes a week to watch videos on the Internet?!”

We couldn’t agree more. That’s why we’ve compiled all of the “Best of” RED VS. BLUE into this handy, portable and extraordinarily convenient DVD! Now you can catch up on all the laugh-out-loud videos that your friends with computers have been telling you about for the last ten years!

Presented in an award-show format, THE BEST RED VS. BLUE DVD EVER. OF ALL TIME. is a salute to the show’s most ridiculous, explosive, jaw-dropping and sidesplitting moments-as voted by the fans! Can all of the show’s greatest hits, quips, jokes and quotes make it onto one disc? It doesn’t seem physically possible! But it is!

The Best Red vs Blue DVD Ever. Of All Time. - DVD Review 2

Originally beginning in 2003, Rooster Teeth’s ‘Red vs Blue’ series is what you could call a machinima success story. I take it if you are reading this review you are already familiar with the series, but if you are not you can dive into the web streams and other goodies via the Rooster Reeth website HERE. Given we still have a little bit longer to wait until Season 10 (And the Seasons 1-10 Box Set), what better way to spend some of that time in celebrating the best of Red vs Blue?

Stylized as an awards ceremony hosted by the characters of the series, the DVD highlights the best moments of the show as voted by fans of the series in a total of twenty-five categories. These categories range  from simple ones such as “Best Red” and “Best Blue” moments to more specific categories including “Best Fail”, “Best Song” and “Best Caboose Moment”. While I am pretty much familiar with the series, to date I am still working my way through the first few seasons in my spare time – so I am not going to comment on just how suitable each of the “winners” were for the category. But given the DVD will set you back less than $10 you do get quite a lot of enjoyable content for your buck and has been voted upon not by the developers but the many fans of the series.

The Best Red vs Blue DVD Ever. Of All Time. - DVD Review 3

Categories vary in length from a two or three minutes for the more specified topics to the entire Red vs. Blue: Relocated and Grifball: Expansion mini-series. Keeping with the whole Awards Ceremony vibe, they split up the individual categories with dialogue between the characters (As announcers) as they do in real-life, provide a short “Red Carpet” treatment for the characters at the beginning and provide an entertaining experience with in-jokes targetted towards fans of the series. Given I was half expecting something a bit simpler for its price, I was pleasantly surprised with the effort that went into this release.

In terms of extra content in this release, the only additional goodies are brief trailers for four Rooster Teeth series – Red vs. Blue Season 10, Achievement Hunter, Animated Adventures and RT Shorts.

The Best Red vs Blue DVD Ever. Of All Time.‘ is a cheap and in my opinion rather good value DVD release for the fans of the series. While it would not serve as an entry point to the Red vs Blue series to newcomers, it serves to highlight not only the improvements that Rooster Teeth have been making over the years but also showcasing the effort and creativity that has been put into it (Oh! and showcase the highlights!). At the very least it may serve as a two and a bit hour distraction from your wait for Season 10 to be released.
