Madman Entertainment’s Top 20 Anime Releases Survey – #2: Fullmetal Alchemist

Madman Entertainment’s Top 20 Anime Releases Survey – #2: Fullmetal Alchemist 1Over the last month or so, Madman Entertainment have been asking their fans to vote for their favourite anime releases from the company (Along with other releases which due to their diversity, most likely won’t make it into this top 20) and giving away on-the-spot prizes to those who provided interesting vote justifications. The intention of this is to generate what fans would consider the companies Top 20 series releases.

For the second top spot in Madman Entertainment’s countdown, we have Fullmetal Alchemist, another long-running series released by the company to the Australian market, with numerous volume and collection releases spanning over both DVD and Blu-ray. Of course, now of more interest is the #1 spot as voted by fans. When taking into account discussion during and after voting, I get the feeling that we may be seeing The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya taking the top spot…. but we shall find out if this is the case tomorrow.

Back to Fullmetal Alchemist, here is what the team at Madman had to say on the announcement:

It was close, but FMA was just pipped at the post to be our #2 title in the poll. What can we say about FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST? Who doesn’t love this show?

It’s one of the truly special titles that come along once in a generation. At it’s heart, it’s about not taking the ones we love for granted, a sentiment we can all understand on a deep level. The courage Edward and Alphonse display in overcoming their obstacles is inspiring – and let’s not forget the action, adventure, humour and suspense the show delivers! As Sam Elric wrote: “FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST is my favourite anime of all time. It has taught me to keep moving forward, suffer the pain of life, and fight for what you feel is right.” That a show can do this for us makes it very special indeed.
