At their panel at Sakura-Con last Friday Aniplex of America made a few announcements of interest pertaining to both acquisitions and re-releases of previously released series. Of what will most probably be of most interest to everyone…. the company has announced that they have acquired the license to the Bakemonogatari anime series which is based on NisiOisin’s light novel series of the same name which aired in Japan during 2009 and animated by the studio SHAFT. Unfortunately at this point in time it is unspecified how it will be released or if it will receive an English dub, but I am sure more information will be made known soon.
Also due to current releases being sold out, the company have also announced DVD re-releases of both OreImo and The Garden of Sinners. The Garden of Sinners was released as an English subtitled Blu-ray release and has since been sold out, alongside the limited-edition DVD box set of the Oreimo series which has also sold out since their releases last year. Information on these releases are also limited, however these will both be released on DVD and where applicable, should not be containing any limited edition bonuses.
