Since the Playstation Vita was launched, you have been able to obtain trophies for any of the games developed for it. Unfortunately while you have been able to obtain these trophies the only way you have been able to show these off is through someone else with a Playstation Vita or through select online tools purposefully developed to showcase a users trophies. Sony Computer Entertainment announced through their recent blog post HERE, that the upcoming Version 2.0 Playstation 3 update due for release on the 23rd October will change how trophies will be displayed on the PS3 console. Namely, the Trophy Collection will reside under “Playstation Network” on the XMB and trophies from both consoles will be viewable.
In addition, they have also announced that their “Life with Playstation” application will be retired. This also includes the end of their participation with Stanford University’s Folding@Home Application which has been available for a number of years – allowing users to donate their PS3 time to the computing project aimed at studying protein folding, misfolding and studying the causes of a variety of diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diseases. This application will be retired in Early November.
