As the saying goes “All good things must come to an end”, and while Bandai Entertainment announced earlier in the year that they would halt the publishing of new DVD and other media products – they have continued to distribute products they have already released.
Unfortunately the next step is about to arrive, with the company announcing the discontinuation of Blu-ray, DVD, comic and novel sales – with the last day the company accepting purchase orders occuring the 15th November 2012 and last shipments occurring 30th November 2012. The home video publishing and distribution business will be discontinued effective 1st March 2012.
Just in-case a few people have lingering doubts about titles Bandai Entertainment held that other companies outside of North America have – eg. GOSICK, Nichijou etc… Madman Entertainment at least have posted this up on their OFFICIAL Facebook page.
Same answer as back when they first announced their closure earlier in the year. No. All of the titles that are distributed by them in the USA we acquired from Japanese rights holders or the rights were reverted back to Japan and we have renewed all of them separately. It’s exactly the same as before. No effect. We also do not have any products in our catalogue which require their products to sell. The only product which required this previously were the Eurkea Seven manga.
In-fact, you can now pick up both collections of GOSICK from your local Australian retailer of anime now.
