Hanabee Entertainment’s Second Anime Acquisition Announced as Dream Eater Merry

DEM Hanabee Entertainments Second Anime Acquisition Announced as Dream Eater MerryHanabee Entertainment, a brand new Australian publisher of anime and machinima titles have so far seen sizable crowds at conventions through their Red vs Blue special guests and related wares… however up until yesterday evening they were holding their anime announcements close to their chest. Last evening they formally announced their first anime acquisition Toradora!, which had already been cracked by a number of clues posted on their Facebook page… but the second anime acquisition announcement which also had clues posted up for it was causing a bit of a tie between either Dream Eater Merry or Level-E.

You will be glad to know that today during their panel at the Sydney Manga and Anime Show (SMASH!), the company announced that their second anime acquisition is Dream Eater Merry (Yumekui Merry | 夢喰いメリ). Aired in Japan during the early months of 2011, this was subsequently picked up by North American publisher Sentai Filmworks and will now be released by Hanabee in Australia.

This will be a complete series release on DVD and will contain both English and Japanese dubs. This will set you back $49.95 AUD RRP with the current release date slated for the 3rd October 2012 – the same date as Toradora. For those who are not familiar with the series, I have included a synopsis of it below:

Dream, a dream, you want to escape from…

When your own dreams are no longer a safe haven for your mind and they’re no longer confined within your sleep, trouble can only arise. For Yumeji Fujiwara his unique ability to predict and enter other peoples’ dreams is causing him some trouble, as he finds himself the focus of an army of cats belonging to an ominous dream demon. But luck is at hand with one, Merry Nightmare, to the rescue!

Merry, a dream demon, has unseeingly crossed over from the dream world to reality with no memory of how and why. Coupled only with the knowledge that she wants to go back, Yumeji offers his aid to help return her home. However things just might not be all that easy when Merry is not the only demon to have crossed over to reality and nor do they have the best of intentions either.
