Japanese studio Anime International Company have announced that they are producing a set of short anime episodes under the title “Maji de Otaku na English! Ribbon-Chan ~Eigo de Tatakau Majou Shoujouu~” (or in English, Real Otaku English! Ribbon-chan, A Magical Girl Who Fights with English).
We have seen a couple of series similar to this in the past including the Moetan series by POP which attempted to intermingle cutesy characters with teaching English through various media from artbooks to an anime series (Their fairytail renditions are available in English under the Pop Wonderland series) and released soon after it, Moegaku*5 which was a short lived anime and live action series that attempted to teach kids five different languages every week.
POP is behind the design of the characters (Thus why the main character looks like Moetan main character Nijihara Ink), while some of the voice cast in this series include Sakura Tange, Hisako Kanemoto, Rina Satou and Keiji Fujikawa. Other team members include Seiji Takakura who in comaboration with Pastel Design and Air Agency have developed this project, Yoshito Nishouji is directing and Koujirou Nakamura is behind the script. This is tied in with the Akiba Blog website.
