Namco Bandai Games Europe and Namco Bandai Partners in Australia today announced that Project Soul had completed development on SoulCalibur V for the Playstation 3 and XBox360 consoles and has thus gone Gold! Due for release on the 2nd February, this game is set to come packed with much of the stuff you already liked about the game but with new features and the inclusion of Ezio Auditore de Firenze from Ubisoft’s Assassins Creed series.
This is not the only news announced, but also the contents of a special Collectors Edition of the game which will be made available at launch. Inside this specially designed “book” box, it will include a “high quality” artbook, soundtrack CD spanning the history of the franchise, making-of videos and a special DLC card for the Black Knight and White Knight armour sets – and to top it off original artwork and letter on reproduction parchment paper signed by the team at Project Soul. Alternatively, if you just want to pre-order the game without getting the more expensive “fancy” pack, doing so for either version from participating retails will grant you a code to unlock Dampierre as a playable character as soon as you start up the game.
Live near the Sydney CBD? Want to play the game just that little bit earlier? Want to seek glory and dominance over other players? Namco Bandai are organizing a number of local tournments to “unite the community and let fans publically demonstrate their weapon-wielding poweress”. In Australia, this event will take place on the 25th January in the Sydney CBD. For more information on this event, check out its official website HERE. Being the victor of this tournment will net you a nice prize as well:
You’ll have the chance to play SoulCalibur V in a live pre-release tournament and battle it out against your GameSpot peers on the mega VMAX screen! The ONE GameSpotter who wins the tournament on the night will have the chance to head to Europe and take part in the global SoulCalibur V Tournament where they will battle it out against gamers from across the globe to be named the world’s best! Three runners up on the night will take home a copy of SoulCalibur V and an awesome merch pack!
The competition prize pack is valued at approx $5,000 and features:
- Return flights from your nearest capital city to Europe in March
- All accommodation, meals and entertainment
But do note to actually attend the event, you will have to take part in a little contest to win one of 130 double-passes to attend the event…. but lets be honest… playing a game on a VMAX screen is a claim not many can make!
