Rising Star Games, a distributor of Eastern games to PAL regions have just announced that they have now opened up a US headquarters with the intention of creating a global digital label. It is their hope to “leverage their decades of European publishing experience and bring exciting new experiences to US consumers“. Based in California, their first intended project for release is Akai Katana, developed by Japanese company CAVE and will be the first of their titles to be released  simultaneously with Europe and North America. How this will affect games Rising Star Games distributes to PAL regions that have already been released in North America has not been mentioned, if there will be any effect at all.

Alongside this, they have also formed a digital publishing division, with the aim of publishing games to the XBox Live Arcade, Playstation Network, Steam, Android and iOS devices. Martin Defries, managing director of Rising Star Games had this to add:

After eight years of fantastic success in bringing the best Eastern games to Europe, we’re ready to expand our business, engaging more consumers than ever before in more territories and on digital platforms.” He continued, “Rising Star Games Digital has been something we’ve been working on for a while. We envisage a huge growth in downloadable product over the coming years, and intend to play a big part shaping the future development of our exciting industry.
