12 300x199 New Playstation Vita Accessories Revealed Get a Grip and Improved Battery Life

Picked up the Playstation Vita and just happen to long for the feeling of a Playstation 3 controller? While it will not exactly improve the gaming experience and to me seems to be quite quirky, the Assist Grip from Datel Japan is one of the few new accessories for the Playstation Vita due for release in Japan. The “console is supposed to be held exactly like a Playstation 3 controller with only a few button location shifts between the two consoles… what I can’t visualize is how easy it would be to use the back touchscreen and get that same level of accuracy as to using the Vita alone. Either way it looks interesting and will set you back ¥1,380.

The second accessory mentioned by Impress Watch is a USB Portable Power Set which is going to be officially released by Sony and allows you to recharge your Vita battery on the go, similar to what a portable battery for a laptop does. Some specifics include that it is 2,000 mAh which is slightly less than the consoles 2,210 mAh, and when starting from a 0% charge state, they were able to get 2 hours and 17 minutes of charging before the battery died and 2 hours 51 minutes of additional gametime when playing Uncharted on High Brightness and Wi-Fi off. This can also supposedly be used with other consoles with a similar USB slot, such as the Nintendo 3DS.
