As you may have been aware, Madman Entertainment (and Siren Visual) were at Wai-con held in Perth today, and with them came many an acquisition announcement. While they usually only announce a couple at events such as this, they came out with a haul of five in total – ranging from newer titles to classics I am sure everyone would appreciate. It is assumed that they would be releasing them to the Australian market sometime later this year. Without further ado… the acquisition announcements were as follows:
Digimon 02
デジモンアドベンチャー02
Aka. Digimon Adventures 02
After what could be called popular demand by fans who from mid-last year got to relive their Cheez TV mornings with their release of the first season of Digimon: Digital Monsters, Madman Entertainment have announced the second season, based a few years after the first will be hitting Australian shores on DVD, which I believe makes it the only English version currently acquired for the market.
“A few years after the adventures of the Chosen Children in the Digital World, a new batch of Chosen Children are summoned to save the Digital World. An evil ruler known as the Digimon Kaiser, or Digimon Emperor, is forcing the Digital World’s Digimon into enslavement. The new group of Chosen Children, with the help of their Digimon, then begin a journey to stop the evil Digimon Emperor.”
In a futuristic Tokyo, humans who have awakened distinct powers are being hunted by a secret organization named Kestos. Denominated as Attracters, these exceptional individuals are joining forces to defend themselves. They are led by an idealist named Quon who is determined to save all Attracters he can.
Okami-san and Her Seven Companions
オオカミさんと七人の仲間たち
Aka. Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi
You may recall this series being mentioned a couple of times over the last week with Funimation announcing its release throughout North America during April as well as them announcing the official English dub cast. Turns out Madman Entertainment have also decided to license this Fairy Tale x Real Life crossover series!
A nice twist to classic fairytale stories! Ryoko Ōkami, the “wolf” of our story, and her BFF Ringo, also known as Little Red Riding Hood, are members of Otogi Bank—a high school club that helps classmates out of grim situations. One day, a meek young man proclaims his love to Ryoko, who does nothing but bite him in return. “You’re much too weak for me,” she huffs. So the boy joins Otogi Bank to prove he has the stuff to protect his beloved—even if it means taking a blow to the head with a lead pipe. He’s no Prince Charming, but will Ryoko allow herself to have her own happily ever after?
Somebody get these girls some clothes cause they’re freezing! Yes, ok bad pun. But you get the drift… Set in a slightly futuristic world where Earth has been invaded and is at war with aliens from another dimension called the Nova, the story follows the adventures of a Japanese boy named Kazuya Aoi who enrolls for training at a special school for genetically modified girls called Pandoras who battle the aliens, and their male partners, called Limiters, who use a special power called “freezing” to limit their opponent’s mobility. The protagonist makes the acquaintance of an unusual older girl named Bridgette L. Satellizer who appears to be the most powerful Pandora in her class, but has not yet chosen a male partner to be her Limiter, and in spite of the warnings of all his friends, he decides to be her Limiter.
In the near future, a meteorite carrying a foreign virus crashes in Japan, leading to a devastating nation-wide infection and total anarchy. Several years later, Shu-a teen with a special ability awakened by the Apocalypse Virus-meets a strange girl who incites him to join the struggle against a government organization’s robotic forces and a secret society whose goal remains shrouded in mystery. We will be streaming this series weekly starting soon!
