Katawa Shoujo is Finished, Now Available for Download!

After five years of development, Four Leaf Studios have today announced that their work on Katawa Shoujo is officially finished and is now available for download free of charge HERE. You might think that one would get bored with developing a game that would be made available free of charge – but the twenty-one members of the team working on every element of the visual novel have done a brilliant job and I personally look forward to seeing the product of their labor. For those who are under the age of 18, this title is not for you as it is an 18+ Eroge Dating Sim, however for those who are passed this age – prepared to find something a bit different from your normal visual novel…. Here is the blurb of the games plot as taken from the official announcement:

Katawa Shoujo is a visual novel set in the fictional Yamaku High School for disabled children, located in modern Japan. Hisao Nakai, a normal boy living a normal life, has his life turned upside down when a congenital heart defect forces him to move to a new school after a long hospitalization. Despite his difficulties, Hisao is able to find friends — and perhaps love, if he plays his cards right. There are five main paths corresponding to the 5 main female characters, each path following the storyline pertaining to that character. The story is told through the perspective of the main character, using a first person narrative.

The question is… will they be working on another title after this? Unfortunately it seems that Four Leaf Studios is indeed finished and will not be producing another game. I will most probably begin playing this visual novel over the weekend and will hopefully have a review up this week.
