Create Your Own Moment of Sporting History with the Official London 2012 Olympic Games Video Game by SEGA

SEGA’s Re-announcement Trailer

So have you had enough of enjoying an Olympic Games with Mario and Sonic characters as competitors and now want more of a realistic approach to the games? Well if you are like me and don’t want to stare at a television for hours on end watching the different sports when the games are actually on… you can also consider trying out the official London 2012 video game from the folks as SEGA. Following on from the tradition that started with the 2004 Athens games, the official video game will feature most of the major Olympic events with realistic athletes and realistic environments. This time around, the game will be available on the PC, XBox360 and Playstation 3, with the games supporting the Kinect and Move accessories for their respective console.

Over 30 Olympic events will make an appearance in the game, all of which are claimed to be authentically recreated to ensure it will be just like the events on television… except perhaps not making you do complicated gymnastic movements in your living room (Seriously… gymnastics on tiles, carpet or whatever do not bode well!). Some of the games mentioned include those with motion control support such as 110, Hurdles, Beach Volleyball (Kinect Only), 25m Rapid Fire Pistol (Move Only) and those that are brand new to the game series such as Keirin (Cycling) at the Velodrome, 10m Synchronized Platform Diving and Trampoline.

There is a new twist to the online functionality of this game however that pits nation against nation. The game will include global leaderboards that will track metals earned while playing online with them being added to the nations total – will you help your country take top spot online? Along with the offline and online modes, the game will also include a party play.

Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing at SEGA Europe and SEGA of America had this to say:

London 2012™ sees the successful relationship between SEGA, ISM and the IOC become even more exciting in the run up to the 2012 Olympic Games. With all new Olympic events and returning favourite sports brought to life with the very latest video gaming technology, everyone can truly compete in the greatest sporting event on earth.

Below I have included a “Fly Through the Stadium” trailer alongside a bunch of new screenshots. The game is due for release on all consoles this June.
