Playstation Vita and Account Restrictions Are Not As Bad As They Seem…. Apparently

PSvita Playstation Vita and Account Restrictions Are Not As Bad As They Seem.... Apparently

It was recently rumored… or more along the lines of translated from a pamphlet handed out at a recent Playstation Vita tour in Japan that the Playstation Vita would only allow for one account to be used per console, with the only option of changing said account being a system factory reset which would result in loss of essentially any bit of data on the console. According to a recent news post by Game|Life on Wired.com, it is not bad news but it is certainly not what I would consider great news. Sony advocate brand marketing manager Crystal MacKenzie (at a recent Manhattan press event) claimed to them that Playstation Network accounts would be connected to the proprietary memory cards instead of the hardware.

What does this mean? To change accounts on a specific memory card you will need to wipe everything on them (Added the fact that you cannot just plug the card into your computer and take things off it), but you can use multiple memory cards to access different accounts on the console. So lets say you are like me and have accounts on the Australian, American and Japanese PSN stores… you would need to purchase three different memory cards to access each individual account – which given the prices may be costly, but certainly a viable one.

Not ideal for those who must have every trophy from every region on their main account…. but it is better than reformatting the console every time right?
