Things been a bit quiet for you on the Persona 4: The Golden front the last few months? It isn’t what I would consider much, but ATLUS have unveiled a brand new 44 second trailer of the game for you to enjoy. While not much is actually shown, it showcases a number of improvements to the original game.
Persona 4: The Golden (P4G for short) is based off the original Playstation 2 release of the game – and is what you would consider an enhanced port for the Playstation Vita making it… at least for now the ultimate version of the game due for release in 2012.

When I first heard about “No FeMC”, I thought many more people would be upset, but it seems that as I read across the web, very few people seem to care, instead the majority of fans simply cry, “OMG AWESOME” when it’s just the same game with extras from all we know now. How do women fans of Persona 4 feel about this? This is pretty disheartening that nobody seems to care, because it felt like such as wasted opportunity. I’d rather not hear arguments like “because it was designed for a male” or “not enough space” to excuse the absence of a female. Most games are designed from a male perspective, and many creators do not care enough to put a female in the first place. Is it wrong for people to expect more female protagonists after Persona 3? Or was that game’s “female protagonist” thing simply a one-time event. Didn’t P3P sell very well in the West because of the female?

I would actually like a female main character solely for the fact that it would essentially double the storyline potential (To the point where in Persona 3 Portable, the only way to get the FULL Persona 3 experience was to play the female). In terms of the two excuses you don’t want to hear…. “Not enough space” may or may not be a valid argument given the greater storage capabilities of the game cartridges but “It was designed to be male” could very well be a reasoning as while P3P was more or less fixed to P4 standard through the female main character – nothing much but a few social links and event scene changes could be done unless they wanted to rewrite the storyline again (At least in my opinion).
Might just be me, but a number of games I have played recently seem to open the option of a female protagonist – many more than in the past. But you are looking at an audience of fans that is stereotypically male… so they would be better off promoting a “nameable” protagonist to appeal to that crowd than have a group of guys forced to play a game with a girl named Bob.Unfortunately, it is quite possible that until Persona 5, you may be looking at a FeMc concept that is a one-off. But to soften the blow, if they release Persona 2: Eternal Punishment then that features solely a female progtagonist. P3P itself may have sold well as it was a rather hard game to come across and had that strong fanbase…. so you can’t really point out one feature to be respective of good sales.
