Tecmo Koei Europe have just an hour or two ago officially announced their release date for Dynasty Warriors Next, the first installment of the series on the Playstation Vita and a mixture of the Dynasty Warriors and DW: Empires games. The game has been slated for release across Europe and I assume other PAL regions beginning on the 22nd February 2012. The game series which has spanned over countless numbers of releases places you in the shoes of one of the many great generals in China, with super human strength and the ability to take down hundreds of enemy soldiers in a single swing of your sword. Some of the games features include:
- Fusion of button and touch controls, including the multi-touch screen and rear touch panel sensors.
- Combine both explosive action with tactical aspects. Using the consoles potion sensors, moving or shaking will allow you to use a new Speed Musou, touching can allow you to perform a Direct Break – both of which will allow you to take over enemy bases with no strategies.
- Improved visuals from any other portable release (Up to par with console releases perhaps?)
- Communication through local play and GPS.
- The inclusion of the Edit Mode, allowing you to fill China with you and up to 99 other fragments of your imagination – each with their own customisable appearance, weapon choice and skills.
- For those who want to use in-game characters, more than 65 playable characters from the series!
The game will have two primary modes, the Campaign Mode which brings the story of the Three Kingdoms to life (Again). It is uncertain if you will be able to bring in Edit Mode characters to this mode. The second is Conquest Mode, which is more similar to the Empires style of gameplay and has you and a number of other aspiring leaders racing and fighting to take control of Japan. Other minor modes includes Coalition Mode which is co-op play through Ad hoc connections and Gala Mode, which is a bunch of other features such as min-games and the like.
As this is a launch title for the Playstation Vita, I will most certainly consider adding this to my first day acquisitions! Also, don’t forget to check out the games new website HERE.
