Will the Playstation Vita Play PSOne Classics At Launch?

NewGamewillitbe Will the Playstation Vita Play PSOne Classics At Launch?

If you are like me, you would have been collecting a number of the Playstation 1 releases made available over the Playstation Network over the last few years…. perhaps even played them on your Playstation Portable. While you will still be able to play them on the Playstation 3 a recent notice on the Japanese Playstation website HERE, made this announcement:

Q: PS Vita でPlayStation®タイトルのゲームアーカイブスをプレイできますか?
In the PS Vita PlayStation ® Do you play the game Archives of the title?

A:  PS Vita 発売時点では対応いたしません。今後の対応予定については追ってご案内いたします。
At the time of release will not support PS Vita. Plans for future measures will be announced shortly.

Therefore, unless they make a quick amendment between December and February, you will be able to play some if not all of your Playstation Network PSP games, however not anything originally released on the Playstation 1 at launch time. It might be a reason not to trade in your old Playstation Portable, as we will not have much idea of compatibility until we actually see these consoles in action.
