Because calling it a success would be an understatement.

Regardless of how you look at the recent release of sales and profits made from Skyrim, it is very hard to consider the game just a success. Zenimax Media today announced that they had shipped seven million units of Skyrim for the Playstation 3, Xbox360 and PC consoles and were expecting them to generate more than $450 million in global retail sales. With 50% of the launch units sold in the first 48 hours and continuously large reorders being made from retailers in North America, Europe and Australia, it seems like there is no end to the popularity and sales of the game – after having been given more than 50 perfect review scores from various sources.

Robert Altman, Chairman and CEO of Zenimax Media had this to say:

“We are grateful for the fans’ response to Skyrim. Todd Howard and his team at Bethesda Game Studios have crafted a very special game. Anticipation for Skyrim has surpassed any game in our company’s history, and we are pleased that sales and reviews have reflected the quality and hours of amazing gameplay it provides.”

Todd Howard, Game Director on Skyrim had this to say:

“Without a doubt, this has been our most ambitious project ever. After over three years of development, we’re finally excited to get it into everyone’s hands.”

Now excuse me while I go check my Facebook where every third post still seems to be about Skyrim.
