For those who like me will be purchasing a normal Wi-fi model of the Playstation Vita, this will not be of much relevance to you – however for those who are looking at purchasing the more expensive 3G model of the Vita… then this will be of relevance. Sony Computer Entertainment Australia and Vodafone Australia have today announced that they have a partnership for the upcoming release of the Playstation Vita, as the preferred provider of 3G connectivity in Australia. This is the same company that has acquired partnerships in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Spain *Deep breath*, Portugal, New Zealand and The Netherlands, as well as Vodafone’s partners in France.

In their recent transition of merging the 3 Network into their Vodafone network, they recently announced a new accelerated network and service improvements, which they claim will help in delivering better customer experiences. They have already reached key milestones – with 900 sites with new 850Mhz networks built for Smartphones and data and 2000 sties replaced with new equipment – and this number will apparently be rising next year.

To aid in getting 3G connectivity on purchase, the 3G/Wi-fi model of the Playstation Vita will come included with a Vodafone SIM card so gamers can jump right into the social gaming experiences. As well, Vodafone will be a source of Playstation Vita’s, with the announcement that alongside your normal game stores, Vodafone stores will have them in stock as well. Customers who connect with Vodafone will receive a Playstation Network voucher for Wipeout 2048 for download from the Playstation Network Store.
