Siren Visual have announced today that they will be responsible for distributing the anime series Ninja Nonsense in Australia starting from January 2012.The following is a brief synopsis of the series:
Take one totally cute ninja-girl trainee; add a ninja horde under the tutelage of a perverse headmaster (a strange, yellow, spherical, pudgy…creature…named Onsokumaru) and you get the kind of super-explosive ninja insanity that can only be found in what’s been called “the runaway nuclear reactor of anime comedies”!
The Ninja Nonsense DVD Collection includes the complete 12-episode anime adaption of Ryoichi Koga’s Ninin ga Shinobuden (2 x 2 = Shinobuden), plus bonus extras. Animated by ufotable (Coyote Ragtime Show, Tales of Symphonia), Ninja Nonsense was recognized as a top 10 anime DVD of 2006 (DVD Talk, Anime Talk), and voice-actor Sean Schemmel’s comedic performance as the over-the-top, Onsokumaru has been praised as ‘deserving to be considered among the all-time great anime performances.’ (Anime News Network).
Personally, I think it is great that both Siren Visual and Madman Entertainment are catering to both fans of more serious animes and those who just prefer a series they can have a few laughs watching – like this series! This title will come in a DVD collection and is a total of 300 minutes in length. Extras included are Character bios, interviews with the Japanese cast, TV spots 1-18, textless OP/ED, Kurukururin (closing) full-size video and trailers. Pre-orders are currently open and will cost $AUD 39.95.
While Siren Visual currently have not released a trailer for the series, the above video is for the North American release of Ninja Nonsense. Hopefully it will give you some idea of what the series is about.
