As they included in Resonance of Fate, Tri-ace will be providing you with a number of costumes for the female character you will be controlling. However, to make use of the touch-screen the 3DS comes with, they will also let you redesign your characters through the use of basic paint tools as well as supposedly JPG files from an SD card. To give a brief example, below are two images which show a before and after shot.
How much use the in-game tools will be is debatable, but if it is possible to use photoshop skills in creating some costumes then it might be a nifty little feature to have. As well, purchasing a Konamistyle store bundle in Japan will come with a desk calendar that has AR markers for each month included. Scanning these in through the Nintendo 3DS software will allow you to see the girl in a seasonal costume through augmented reality. If you can use these costumes ingame is so far unknown.
While it is nice to see they are giving users the customisation tools, it would be nicer if they spent the time promoting the storyline and gameplay just that little bit more.
Beyond The Labyrinth is due for release on the Nintendo 3DS in Japan on the 19th January 2012. It is being released by KONAMI but at this time, does not have an English release date.
