While the Umineko no Naku Koro ni visual novel series was classified as a visual novel, it was also classified as a sound novel – where instead of visuals and vocals to set the mood, they used a diverse range of music – most of which you could find in any fans music collection. The series since the original arc has had an opening theme, coming to a total of three (First: Arcs 1-4, Second: Arcs 5-6 and Third: Arcs 7-8) which were all memorable, followed by the one for Rondo of the Golden Witch for the Playstation 3.
In what could very well be the last visual novel opening sequence, Alchemist seems to have opted for a brand new one, focusing more on the magical world action elements of the series which features promimently in Chiru, over the murder element in the first four arcs (Not to say that they don’t hold the other element). I personally enjoyed it – and liked that they decided to mix both visual novel and anime style designs into one.
The game is due out in Japan on the 15th December 2011 on the Playstation 3, and if you want to see it in English – I strongly advise getting onto your favorite game publishers forums and get hassling!
