After much teasing on behalf of Nippon Ichi Software, Dengeki Online have finally released a couple of screenshot images for the upcoming title The Witch and the Hundred Cavalrymen, being developed by the same team that worked on Prinny: Can I Really Be a Hero? and Prinny 2: Dawn of Operation Panties, dood!. The main character, Metallica is pictured to the right and believe it or not, is not the main controllable character – instead, you play as the 100 soldiers with one of them, Hiyakkihei is being pictured to the left. The dialogue interface seems to be almost similar to that of Disgaea 4.
While the dialogue and character portraits are similar to that of Disgaea 4, the actual gameplay system is vastly different then almost anything they have released in the past. As you can see from the screenshots, the design will use vibrant 3D environments with 3D character designs as well. Whilst there will be a considerably sized storyline, the gameplay has you fighting against monsters and completing quests in the above screenshots. In terms of controllable characters, whilst you will be playing as the 100 soldiers, only Hiyakkihei has a physical form, with the other 99 can be used, but only for brief periods of time.
Some information about distribution has been announced. The game has a current slated release date of Spring 2012 and will have a special edition containing a Puchi Nendoroid figure of the witch Metallica, a two disc soundtrack,and a hardcover art book. No price has been mentioned as of yet.
