Mild Spoiler Alert
As all gamers do, I have moments in gaming that really do turn me away from continuing my path on finishing a game – sometimes it is a storyline that drags on, sometimes it is a gameplay system that just pisses me off – and in times like this…. it is a games foreshadowing that I did not take seriously. When reviewing games, I don’ try out a small segment of a game and then review it – I almost always play the game all the way through which gives me an overall grasp of the storyline.
Enter Atelier Totori, the sequel to Atelier Rorona. As with its predecessor, the game makes use of a day and month system where you are allocated a certain period of time to do tasks and if you get them all, can continue on to the next month. Atelier Rorona was straight forward in that you were told what to collect and the timeframe… with Atelier Totori the game is a bit more open in what you do, using an achievement and adventurer rank system to have you finish the game. Alas, having reached the second highest adventurer rank (Cobalt), completed countless numbers of quests and got such high relationships with a number of party members only to forget that a few months back I was asked to build a number of parts for “something”, yet was more pre-occupied with finishing my adventurers license that I fell short one component….
So yes, I am in a pickle when it comes to the review as I am not aware of how much further the game progresses or how much more storyline is in the game (Most games from companies like GUST seem to have varying levels of included Good and Truth end content). But anyway, don’t fancy going through all the in-game years again so I will base the review of what I played.
