Madman Highlight: Ico Novel to be Released This December

nico01 199x300 Madman Highlight: Ico Novel to be Released This DecemberTo game fans, Ico can generally be categorized into two groups depending on how fortunate you are. To a minority it seems, the game that was released for the PS2 is one of the highlights of the console… for the seemingly majority of people in Australia who like myself, have been unable to find a copy (Until this weeks release of the HD Playstation Port) – it was “Argh! This is the 50th Game Store that doesn’t have the game in!”.

Whilst the game may have just been re-released, you may not be aware that there is a novel version of the series that is being released by Viz Media in North America and this coming December, Madman Entertainment for Australian and New Zealand audiences. The following is the official description for the novel:

A boy with horns, marked for death. A girl who sleeps in a cage of iron. The Castle of the Mist calls for its sacrifice: a horned child, born once a generation. When, on a single night in his thirteenth year, Ico’s horns grow long and curved, he knows his time has come. But why does the Castle of the Mist demand this offering, and can the castle keep Ico’s destiny from intertwining with that of the girl imprisoned within its walls? Delve into the mysteries of Miyuki Miyabe’s work of fantasy: a grand achievement of imagination, inspired by the award-winning game for the PlayStation 2, soon to be remastered in high-definition for the PlayStation

My review for the recently released HD version of the game should be out within a week or two.
