Funimation Entertainment to Release .hack//Quantum

hack001 Funimation Entertainment to Release .hack//Quantum

The .hack// series is one that has been running successfully for many years now over many game and anime releases. While .hack//Link was the latest installment in the game series, perhaps the last one – the anime series is still running strong with a recently announced movie planned for next year and .hack//Quantum which was released only a short while ago. As a companion OVA series to .hack//Link (Similar to .hack//Roots & .hack//G.U), the game takes place a short while after the events of that game where three girls – Tobias, Mary and Sakuya who control characters resembling Kite, Blackrose and Balmung get drawn into the events of the world after meeting a cat player/NPC Hermit.

Whilst you still have the comas and all the ingame elements that have made the games and animes so successful, this is the first one to have a heavier emphasis on the real world, as The World R:X can be accessed from almost anywhere, so we get to follow the characters through both worlds. Funimation intends on releasing both DVD and Blu-ray editions of the series next year. There are currently no Australian announcements regarding this series, however given that Madman Entertainment have released every other .hack// series, I think it is safe to say there is a good chance we will be seeing it over here eventually.
