As was originally teased at the EB Games Expo last weekend, Namco Bandai Partners have announced three editions for Final Fantasy XIII-2, each with increasing levels of bonus collectors items – these are standard edition, Limited Collectors Edition and Crystal Edition. I shall quickly go through the contents of each one:

Limited Collectors Edition

Your normal Collectors edition featuring the Final Fantasy XIII-2 game, Composer selected soundtrack CD featuring a number of game tracks selected by the development team, an artbook titled “The Art of Final Fantasy XIII-2″, 6 collectible postcards featuring high quality CG artwork of the main characters and a HD lenticular art print of Lightning.

Crystal Edition

For those who love the franchise even more and want the best of everything in their collectors edition, the Crystal Edition would be the only way to go. First off, you get everything mentioned above with the exception of the soundtrack. “No soundtrack?” you say… instead you get the entire 4-disc soundtrack featuring every song in the game with the exception of “New World” by Charice. You also get a limited edition – never to be purchasable again Final Fantasy XIII-2 shirt. It also comes in a special presentation box.

Pre-order Bonus

Okay, so perhaps you don’t have the funds to purchase the collectors editions upon release or you are just not interested in that extra stuff – you can still pick up a number of bonus extras through pre-ordering the game. These bonuses include:

  • A Fight in Style Downloadable Content Pack featuring alternate costumes for Serah and Noel, bonus weapon for Noel, the ability to battle Final Fantasy boss Omega and have it join your party for your adventure.
  • Final Fantasy XIII – Episode i, an exploration into the events taking place between Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII-2 in order to help bridge the gap.
  • Three lithograph artcards featuring key images from the game.

So, the only question left to ask is what version will you be picking up? For specifics on price and availability, consult your normal games retailer.
