EB Expo 2011 – Good Game Spawn Point Recording (Sunday Session) – Live Feed Archive

ggsp EB Expo 2011 Good Game Spawn Point Recording (Sunday Session) Live Feed Archive

For those who are outside of Australia and may not be familiar with this series, Good Game is a gaming show hosted by Steven O’Donnell (Bajo) and Stephanie Bendixsen (Hex). Running at around 30 minutes per week, the two of them alongside their n00b hating robot Darren review the latest games available in Australia, give latest news updates from various game companies and have their own quirky segments which in my opinion do appeal to the teenage – young adult gaming fanbase. Last year saw the unveiling of a new series – Good Game Spawn Point, which focused on the younger crowd of gamers, doing more family friendly segments, bringing in Darren a lot more (Most young gamers now know it is bad to be a n00b) and focused on G-PG rated games, something rather uncommon in the video game talk show field.

Now, I don’t think I had much of a need to attend if my sole purpose was to appear on television… every time I turned around during the expo it felt like the team was somewhere in close vacinity and whilst enjoying a game in a certain booth, they even set up a recording on the console right next to me (Who knows, might appear on the next episode of Good Game (Spawn Point)). Talking about it with some mates of mine, they suggested I demand to be added to the credits roll for the show (Haha!) Instead, it was a mixture of:

1. I randomly stumbled upon the filming.

2. I was curious as to how they would be incorperating the crowd into the episode – in which I can say they did a brilliant job.

Anyway, without further ado here is my live blog archive during the filming. Unfortunately all the adults were not granted front row seats which were saved for the kids, so please excuse the small typos on my behalf (Oh, and this live feed is in reverse chronological order, so start from the bottom)

Sun 13:00

They really have got the crowd involved… Suppose that is why they are so popular.

Sun 12:46

Very friendly crew as well from my analysis over the last few days… Needed Darren here however, plenty of noobs that could be lazered I am sure!

Sun 12:43

Fair few excited kids about appearing on tv.

Sun 12:40

Good to see they are getting some kids asking questions live!

Sun 12:38

To my brother, a huge Good Game fan…

Sucks that you didn’t attend today’s session eh?

Sun 12:35

They need some spawnlings to ask questions? I can pretend to be a bearded 10 year old!

Sun 12:31

“everybody know what they have got to do?”

Argh no!

Sun 12:29

They have placed a walkway through this crowd in the oddest and most impractical position in lieu of a more sensible path.

Sun 12:27

At a Good Game recording… Look forward to seeing the episode as in their reports on the floor, I have gamed next to them… Twice haha!

So yes, I thought the crew functioned very well as a unit during the event (I saw enough of them during the course of the event to know), and I am sure they have now made the many children in attendance very satisfied with their coming to the EB Games Expo knowing that they have met their (gaming) heroes.
