A Much Smaller Haul From Madman Entertainment this December

As the Christmas season rolls in, instead of increasing the number of items they have on sale, it seems like anime companies from my perspective are lowering the number of items they offer this season, of course after months and months of releasing countless numbers of titles. Madman is no exception to this it seems, with only a handful of offerings that will be available from the 14th of December. Despite this small number of titles, it is by no means a bad set of titles. *’ed titles are the ones I am interested in.

Two years have passed since Hei and Yin escaped the Syndicate after the events of the first season. Making their way to Russia, Hei encounters a young girl named Suou Pavlichenko, whose family is gradually pulled into the war between contractors and various intelligence factions. Meanwhile, Misaki Kirihara has quit her position in Foreign Affairs to begin her own investigations into Hei, the Contractors and the Syndicate.

When their descent from the sky doesn’t go as planned, the Straw Hats find themselves trapped in the Marine stronghold of Navarone. This impenetrable island is surrounded by scraggy stone walls and governed by a military mastermind known as Commander Jonathan. Pirates imprisoned within Navarone’s walls seldom live to see the other side, but not even the great Commander Jonathan has ever faced foes as formidable as Luffy and his crew.

Eager to escape the island and get back in the water, the Straw Hats hatch a plan to spring Zoro from the clink, reclaim their confiscated gold, and rendezvous at the Going Merry for a life-or-death, do-or-die, daring dash into the freedom of the deep blue sea! The sailing certainly won’t be smooth, and it’ll take all hands on deck to survive this scrape!

The most dangerous and exciting car race in the universe is held only once every five years. And that’s tonight. The competitors are lined up at the starting block. In his vehicle, JP, the most daredevil driver on the circuit, is ready for the green light. Female driver Sonoshee, with whom he is secretly in love, is also on the starting line. She will stop at nothing to get on to that podium. In this race, not only is anything possible, but also anything is allowed. The film is produced by the studio MADHOUSE (Ninja Scroll, Summer Wars), directed by Takeshi Koike (The Animatrix’s “World Record”) and written by Katsuhito Ishii (Piroppo, Trava).

So, that is essentially it for this month in terms of anime unless they have more to be announced. Despite this small release load for anime, Madman’s film division seem to have quite a few new releases throughout December which you might be interested in. Of course, they are also doing a few manga releases, which are as follows:

  • Are You Alice? Volume 3
  • Claymore Volume 18
  • Complete Invincible Library Hc Vol. 3
  • D.Gray-Man Volume 21
  • Death Note: Black Edition Volume 6
  • Dogs: Bullets and Carnage Volume 6
  • Ico: Castle in the Mist (Novel)*
