Nippon Ichi Software America announced a few hours ago that they intend to release the second Premium Edition of their anime series Katanagatari from the 20th of September. I recently did a full review of the first volume and gave it a B-Grade overall, thinking that whilst perhaps the storytelling could have been better then what was delivered – the quality of the design, music and packaging was well up there. The following is the blurb about the second volume as taken from the Press Release:
Yasuri Shichika and the Stratagemist Togame have reached the middle of their katanacollection journey. Realizing that Togame has so far succeeded, Princess Denial initiates countermeasures to simultaneously help and hinder the woman she hates the most in the world. The final few katana are held by even more fierce and even more dangerous foes, not to mention the Maniwa Ningun, who grow more and more desperate to reclaim their village’s honor.
It is up to the power of Kyoto Ryu and Shichika to see this journey to its completion, conquering what the Old Shogun tried to accomplish with an army of thousands. His only weapons are his fists and Togame’s always-devious stratagems.

1. The Hardcover Slipcase
2. The discs of the series – with both 2x DVD discs and 2x Blu-ray discs – A total of 6 episodes at around 50 minutes each with Japanese dub and English subtitles.
3. Artbook – Premium showcase package with a full color 32 page hardcover art book, featuring vivid, unique artwork that conveys a story by itself, quest guides including character information, and song lyrics from Quests 7 through 12. A detailed glossary was added to the art book in order to provide a deeper understanding of Japanese history and the traditional terminology used throughout the show.
4. For those who pre-order through the NIS America Store, 6 dual-sided prints featuring 12 original artwork pieces from the series.
