MangaGamer – Go! Go! Nippon! ~My First Trip to Japan~

cover1 MangaGamer Go! Go! Nippon! ~My First Trip to Japan~Have you ever wanted to travel to Japan but like I am sure many others – you gringe at the thought of having to go through guidebook after guidebook and even with all tens of thousands of plans formulated, you are still no closer to come up with an itinerary? MangaGamer and OVERDRIVE have a perfect thing to you! OVERDRIVE have developed a visual novel series targetting westerners specifically, which acts as both a travel guide and a romance series, where you can travel around and learn more about the sights and culture of Japan. Here is the synopsis of the series:

Our protagonist is a fan of Japanese anime and games. He makes friends with some Japanese people on the internet, and decides to stay with them for a week. Thrilled by the prospect of a week’s sightseeing in Japan, he touches down in the airport, only to discover that his new friends — “Makoto” and “Akira” — are actually a pair of attractive young sisters!

After their introductions, the protagonist arrives at their house to learn that no one else is there.
“Um… where are your parents?”
“Our parents were called out of town for two weeks on urgent business.”
(In other words, the only ones in the house will be Makoto, Akira, and I?)
(How is that going to work!?)

The local culture has some surprises in store on your first night there, but you’ll soon head out on the town! Enjoy the date-like atmosphere as Makoto and Akira take you on a tour of famous sites. You’ll marvel at the beauty and history of Japanese culture, fill up on local delicacies, and even share some thrilling moments with the girls! The week you spend in Japan will certainly be memorable!

Now I bet from the synopsis that you were expecting some sort of adult eroge novel right? Well this is actually an All-ages visual novel and gets off with only a mild level of fanservice as you will see in the preview pictures! The series focuses on two main female leads, supposedly allowing you to end up in a “relationship” with one of them. Their character biographies are below, as taken from HERE.

Bright and sweet, she is the epitome of the “good girl.”
She studies English literature in college, and therefore can speak English quite well.
Unfortunately, her cooking is awful. They say one bite of her food can induce unconsciousness.
She seems to enjoy smoothing the constantly-ruffled feathers of her outspoken little sister, Akira.

Akira is so bad at English that even when she speaks it, the listener assumes she’s speaking Japanese.
Unlike Makoto, she’s a skilled cook, and cooks for the protagonist every night during his stay.
She’s so awkward that even when she’s feeling happy, she tends to express it as anger. Still, she’s a spunky girl unafraid to voice her opinions.
She tends to act sullen around the protagonist, but… maybe it’s just because she’s shy?

In other words, both female characters are twins who are complete opposites of each other, which seems to be the norm in most series nowadays. The following images are some screenshots of the series. The visual novel is slated to be released on the 30th of September 2011 and will be marketted for €9.95 or US$ 14.44.

Whilst it is currently not possible to purchase or pre-order the game, you can purchase it when possible from this following link: HERE.
