Madman Entertainment to Release Whisper of the Heart on Blu-ray

Whisperoftheheart Madman Entertainment to Release Whisper of the Heart on Blu rayWhilst this title has not been officially announced yet or even have a perspective release date, some of the clever folks on the Madman Madboards have uncovered possible cover art of Whisper of the Heart on Blu-ray, with the Madman logo on the front of it. Madman Entertainment released Laputa and My Neighbors The Yamada’s earlier this year on Blu-ray, so this seems to be the next Studio Ghibli title that will be getting a HD re-release (Having watched both the Laputa and My Neighbors the Yamada’s on Blu-ray, you could never go back to DVD versions). The following is a description of Whisper of the Heart:

Shizuku Tsukishima is a bit of a book-worm, spending her last summer vacation in junior high school reading and translating popular foreign music into Japanese. With aspirations to one day become a writer, Shizuku can’t help but notice that the name Seiji Amasawa appears on every one of the books she borrows from the library. Through a series of curious and magical incidents, she comes to meet Seiji and discovers he has dreams of becoming a famous violinmaker in Italy. While their life-long goals pull them in two different directions, Shizuku and Seiji are determined to remain true to their strong feelings for one another.

As this is the second time they are releasing Ghibli titles to Blu-ray, makes me wonder what could possibly be released next after this. I wouldn’t mind a Blu-ray release of Spirited Away or The Cat Returns. Considering that the cover art has already been revealed, my estimate would be a November or December release for this title at least.
