I am not familiar with this series, however this 1960′s Japanese Samurai series “The Samurai” holds the title as one of the first Japanese television series to make it into Australia and according to what I have read – proved to be rather successful. This spawned Siren Visual to do a DVD releases of all 128 episodes between the years 2002 and 2006. Whilst Siren Visual has changed their focus since then to more anime-oriented series, it seems like their passion for this series has not died down, prompting a box set release coming this October.
Consisting of all ten series, all the DVD’s are nestled inside of a collectors box – with only 1,500 ever going to be made. All ten series equal 3,200 minutes of watching, or around 53 and a bit hours of content….. certainly enough if you want to spend a whole long-weekend watching the series with no sleep. Also included in Siren Visual’s collection is a limited edition run of Samurai trading cards which are modelled off the original Scanlen card set, with authentic packaging.
So this set with 3,200 minutes of content, 30 DVD discs, both English and Japanese dubbing and a limited edition set of trading cards begs you to ask the question… how much does this all cost? $249.95 is the price this is going for and can be purchased on the 21st of October or pre-ordered from the Siren Visual website HERE.
Before anyone asks, I will not be reviewing this title unfortunately….. I could spend 53 hours watching and reviewing every other anime title released by both Siren Visual and Madman Entertainment released that much in that period of time.
